If like me you are preparing to embark on a new build and want to model the building before a single brick is laid, then this software is worth a closer look. The documentation accompanying the software is well written and gradually introduces features as you learn to use it, and is backed up with a comprehensive reference guide for further reading.

Also note the newer version 2016 is now available to buy but I have not attempted to trial it. I have not experienced a single crash since its installation - note I cannot run both instances simultaneously as I have to transfer the license via an online license server.

Version 2015 itself is stable and runs fine on my two PCs operating Windows 7 32-bit and Windows 8.1 64-bit.

If you are not familar with the terminolgy I have used here, visit the product's website for further explanation! modelling soffits with wood grain going in the wrong direction, modelled smaller standard shaped doors in loft area, modelled a curved staircase without winders. In my case I just had to compromise on these limitations buy modelling slightly differently to the architects drawings, thus working around the limitations e.g. adding decorative detail to the building exterior such as mock tudor style beams, using irregular shaped doors (corner cut off), winders on staircases.

The limitations I have identified so far are not present in the more expensive Home Designer Pro e.g. The program is well featured but does have some limitations, but for the price represents great value for money. I originally planned to use the software to visualise two-dimensional drawings drafted by our architect in 3D to gain a better understanding of room layouts for a new build project. I do not intend to list all of its features as part of this review as you can browse the vendors website for that. I bought Home Designer Pro 2015 in September 2014 but wanted to familiarise myself with the product before reviewing.
